Wally’s House Children’s Center – Tufted Installations

Project Dates: 2025- 2026
Project Description: Interactive, tufted wool installations for ‘Wallys House Child Abuse Intervention Center’ in Gold Beach, Oregon.
Forest Sanctuary: Floor to ceiling 10’ foot tall Monterey Cypress Trees, featuring native plants and animals, transform an interior corridor into a tranquil woodland path. Embodying the resilience and perseverance of our local Coastal Cypress trees, this installation allows interaction with various textures and provides sound-proofing.
Riverway Refuge: Large 12’ x 7’ Waterway play space rug in the waiting room area provides a safe and engaging space for children to relax and decompress. 3D rock pillows and a 3’ log bench provide further interaction and engagement within the space.




Waterfall with Secret Cave

Date: 2024
Description: Designed for a Private residence in Denver, CO, this tufted waterfall installation hides a secret cave opening behind the latch-hook falls. Moss covered rocks, moss tufts, and a 3D ‘Plushroom’ grace the inside, with a full waterway rug planned for inside the cave.

Meet the Artist

Liza Hamilton
Most known for life-size needle felted creations, Liza has been working with wool for over a decade, with a new focus on tufting wool; the art of rug making.
Liza was first introduced to wool and the art of felting in 2007 while attending a workshop at the ‘New Hampshire Institute of Art’, hosted by Fiber Artists Beth & Larry Beede. Liza has been exploring the sculptural, functional and artistic qualities of wool ever since.
Having grown up in the woodlands of West Newbury, Massachusetts, Liza now resides on the Southern Oregon Coast with her artist husband, Johan Ziems. With a strong connection to the whimsical town of Ashland, Oregon, where Liza’s work can be found in a number of places, most prominently at the ‘Shepherds Dream’ store downtown.




Liza also works with lost-wax bronze casting sculptures, with new pieces being cast at Artworks Foundry in Berkeley, CA. The most prominent bronze sculpture being ‘Momentum’ a leaping Kirin with antlers and spiraling fur tufts- this elegant beast is a limited run of 12 editions.
